DEC TIME TRIAL
On a good night considering the recent bad weather – dry and not too cold, we had 18 runners which included 3 new names of which 2 were new faces too. Joanne Taylor, a very recent new member, Sarah Ward a friend of Cat, and Asta Bevaintye who has been with the club for quite some time now, but making her debut at the time trial. As this was the 2nd Wednesday run of winter we did it reverse way round to the last Wednesday run, i.e. running along Morris Lane and up Spen Lane for the nice long steady downhill of Queenswood Drive.
First over the line, possibly due to a pessimistic guess at her 5k time, was Joanne Taylor in a run time of 27.51 who thought she had taken a short cut somewhere. No need to worry though as she will probably find herself starting further back amongst the pack on her next run. At least she was able to assist with the timings after she had finished since there was no one else to assist on the night. Second over the line getting faster but not back to his pb yet, was Sean Scanlon with a run time of 25.21. Third was Nick Child with a pb for the course with a run time of 22.32. Unfortunately bringing up the rear, after finishing first on his last appearance was Paul Chapman with a run time of 24.56, just behind another usual hot favourite Dave Wood. Also getting a pb for this course was “Geids” shaving 2 seconds off and recording a time of 21.30
Fastest man on the night was again Lee Hardy, with a pb run time of 19.33, and finishing 4th after starting at the back with Adam Moger. Fastest female on the night was Cat James with a course pb of 24.40 just beating Sarah Ward who had a time of 25.20. A much closer grouping tonight with only 3 minutes 50 seconds separating all 18 runners, or 2.20 if you take out Jo’s guesstimate. A big thank you to Adam for ensuring all the earlier runners set off in the right order and time, before warming himself up for his start.
