Busy Weekend for the Harriers

Leeds parkrun Takeover

On Saturday morning we hosted the Leeds parkrun at Hyde Park. The run went very smoothly thanks to Sam Broome’s organisation. We handed out many flyers for the KA7 and took £51.78 in donations to MacMillan Cancer Support on the cake stall. Thanks very much to all those who helped, baked cakes, ran as pacers, or just ran the race in purple. It was a great success.

Leeds Country Way Relay

On Sunday we had three teams of 12 runners taking part in the Leeds Country Way Relay. The weather was perfect for watching and a little warm for running. We came away with two trophies. Ben and Jen won the individual leg 1 mixed team 1st place. Shami and Adam won the same trophy for leg 6. Well done to them and all our runners. Thanks to Adam for organising the teams and reserves which is always a difficult task.

Members Meander 2014

Thanks to Peter for organising another very enjoyable evening on Wednesday. Also thanks to Steve Webb and Paul Chapman for helping with the race. In all, 37 members started. Not all finished though. We hope that those who had a fall (Trish & Jim) will recover quickly.

We also helped Adam celebrate his birthday in the LPSA afterwards by letting him eat the first chocolate eclair!

Well done to new member Alex Cook for being first over the line and to Emma Southon and Andrew Kirby for coming in 2nd and 3rd.

Yorkshire Vets West Park – 19 Aug

We had great turn out to the most “local” vets race of the season for us at Kirkstall. Thanks to Abbey Runners who put on a very enjoyable and well organised event. The course was a single lap of a meandering 5.2 mile route around West Park and Becketts Park. Although it was 95% off road, it was fairly flat and fast. We had at least 35 members running. The results may take some time to be published due to holidays within the YVAA team. Those who stood in to organise the registration and results etc., did a great job. What we do know is that Emma Lavelle-Wood came in 3rd FV35 and Eddie Munro was 3rd MV60, so well done to them both for their fantastic performances and we trust that they will enjoy their prizes of bottles of wine. Full results will be posted here when available.
