Eccup 10

An annual favourite of many members. this race always seems to get warm weather and this year was no exception. Not a scorcher like last year but warm and humid. Of the 29 members running, some were first time 10 milers and some earned new PBs on this undulating course.
Congratulations to John Hutchinson for winning the M65 2nd place trophy.

Kirkstall Festival 2014

We had a stall at the festival again and a few of our members helped throughout the day.

Special thanks go to Sam, Gemma, Paul C, Lauren, Ian, Anne, Jim, Eric & Daphne who put in a long shift on the stall. Also many thanks to all those who stopped by for a while to lend a hand.

The balloon race went down very well and some 38 balloons were set free from the Abbey grounds at 4.00pm.

We made about £50 which will be donated to Wheatfields Hospice.

Post Hill Challenge & Club Championship Update

15 members were brave enough to take on the challenge of this race which includes 2 climbs up the front of Post Hill within the first mile!

Well done all for completing the run on a very warm evening and especially to Marion Muir for winning the FV35 prize.

Our results in the race are below.

Kevin Kelly took the maximum 50 points from this race with a very strong run. Well done Kevin. Marion Muir followed up with 49 points and Alan Brydon who finished 5th in the race earned himself 48 points.

Despite not running in the race, Jon Potts retains top spot in the league and Hannah remains in second. Peter Hey consolidated his third place by scoring 47 points and improving his “best 6” tally.

This marks the midway point in the championship but there are still 10 races to go, so plenty of time to build up your best 6 race scores.

The next CC races are the Eccup 10 on Sunday 13th July.

Yorkshire Vets West Vale

It could have been the holidays, the world cup or just the challenging course that led to a low attendance at the 5th vets race of the season. Only 139 runners this time and only 14 from Kirkstall + Eric but we still had enough vet ladies and men to score points for the club. Thanks to all those who turned out to represent the club.

Congratulations to:

Emma Lavelle-Wood for winning 3rd FV40
Jon Potts for winning 2nd MV60
Chris Glover for winning 2nd MV50 (woohoo!)
Catherine Barrett for winning a spot prize!
