PECO CROSS COUNTRY

Well done to all those who ran at Shaw Cross. We had 14 men and 11 ladies out on the day which is an excellent turnout. The ladies came first in their league and the men came second, just behind Valley Striders. It was good to see Peter Branney back in action, and finishing 14th instead of 1st is good enough for his first comeback. We need the same commitment for all the other 4 races to win promotion back to the Premier. The top two teams are promoted so if we keep up the current form we're looking good. Unfortunately the next race is on 23rd December at Ackworth the other side of Pontefract. Please let us have many as possible turning up it's not the best of dates. Those wanting lifts or directions please meet outside the LPSA at 9.30 for a prompt departure.

Full results from the first race can be found on the Abbey Runners web site at abbey runners

WEST YORKSHIRES XC

The club managed to get another team out for the 3rd West Yorks Cross Country at York. At the moment I have been unable to see how the club is doing overall. The final event is at Thornes Park Wakefield on Sunday 2nd December. People interested in running should meet outside the LPSA club for 12.30

NORTHERN CROSS COUNTRY

This is being held at Roundhay Park this year, so no excuses for not getting a team out for both the lads and lasses. Those interested please pass your names onto Peter Hey, Martin, or Collette for the ladies, as soon as possible. The event is on 26th January, in the afternoon. Marshalls will also be required from early in the morning to erect and look after a particular section. If you are interested in marshalling please give our name to Richard

KIRKSTALL ABBEY 10K 2008

Just to keep you updated with progress for next year's off road version of the club's race. A provisional route has been identified and so far we've been given the green light by both Leeds City Council parks authority and West Yorkshire Police. As the route involves a section along the canal we also need permission from British Waterways. So far, so good.

NEW WEB SITE

If you hadn't noticed already - you will have done now you're reading this the club has a new look web site. Thanks to Tom Keeber for the revamp. I for one think it looks very good. I'm sure Tom will appreciate any comments. Kirkstall Harriers

NEWS FROM OUR MIDDLE EASTERN CORRESPONDANT

I may be 3,500 miles away but not forgotten!! I'm after a favour - as a still paid up member of the club i was wondering if you could put this web address in the next newsletter? 2 good friends of mine have started a running shop and need all the help they can get (there was a running questionnaire ages ago) so was hoping kirkstall harriers would have a nosey? It's www.lansonrunning.com and they're both good runners.

PS I've made it into the local paper here, they did an article on the Dubai Creek Striders and I made it in!! To have a laugh go to, here then have a look at the photo gallery. Hope you're all well. Cassie xx

MESSAGE FROM LOUISE CARBY

Could you let everyone know that i had my baby on 13th october - a little girl called freya, 6lb 9oz. She's doing really well but don't think i will be able to make it as i am breast-feeding. I hope to be in touch soon, maybe i will call in one day after a run.

Congratulations to Louise, Freya and family from all at Kirkstall Harriers.

LONDON MARATHON

This is the time of year when those You're in or Sorry packs start dropping through letter boxes. My Sorry pack has already arrived.

Those of you who have been rejected and would still like to enter, please bring in your rejection slips to the club. Hopefully the club has 2 or 3 places that will cost the same as the normal entry fee and depending on how many are rejected, we do have a preferential system to reward the more loyal, longer serving and regular race entrant. If we have more people then places, then it will go to a ballot that will be drawn before the end of December.

PBs

Once again that man Patrick hits the headlines with a pb at the Guy Fawkes 10 with 1.27.37. Peter Hey however is trying to claim some of the credit as a pacemaker or should that be windbreak until the last 1/2 mile when Patrick shot past him. Well done Patrick.

Remember, if you want to announce your PB to the world, let Peter Hey know and you'll see you name and time in lights on a web site near you.

NEW MEMBERS

Please welcome to the club 3 new members. Jessica Wong who hails from Bingley hopefully she has not heard of Bingley Harriers and Tim Waldren from Hyde Park / Burley Road area. Also joining the club (eventually?) is Rhian Millar from Headingley, whose parents found out about our club all the way back in Trinidad. Just shows how good news travels !!!. Well done to all 3 of them for competing in the cross country at Shaw Cross apologies for the lack of mud which was missing from last years run.

XMAS LIGHTS RUN

The run through town this year will be on Tuesday 11th December along with members from Horsforth Harriers. To avoid overcrowding in the Leisure Centre, please meet in or outside the Leeds Postal Sports Club for a 7.30 start. Seasonal or just any old fancy dress is optional. There will be a buffet afterwards in the concert room. Those with a good excuse for not running lately will be welcome to join us after the run to show us their faces.

FUDDLE

If there is going to be a fuddle this year what with all the other excitement going on, it will probably be Wednesday 19th December please stay tuned for any further announcements on this.

NUPTUALS

Congratulations to Martin Savage. Not only was he appointed Kirkstall Harriers male club captain at the beginning of the year but he's also got married. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Savage. What a year!!!
