AGM UPDATE
Many thanks to all those who attended the AGM on Wednesday 21st March. It was a much bigger turn out than last year which is superb as it means more members have more input.

Key points discussed at the AGM were;

It was agreed that membership fees are to increase by £2 per member making subscriptions £14 for men and £12 for women.
After many years as Chairman of the club Neal Shotter has stood down and Peter Hey was elected as the new Chairman
Richard Thomas offered to stand down as club secretary, but was persuaded to carry on for a further year.
Peter Hey has been replaced by Tony Downham who was elected as club Treasurer
Ian Brown stood down from the committee.
Jill Stocks, Martin Savage and Collette Spencer were elected onto the committee, joining Carol Moran and Paul Luxton as committee members and Peter Hey, Richard Thomas and Tony Downham as Officers.
Martin and Collette were voted as club captains and therefore will assume roles of organising club events.
It was agreed that from 2008 onwards, of the 3 club places for the London Marathon, 2 would be allocated as per the current club rules, however 1 place would be allocated at the discretion of the committee to a deserving member. This could be on ability, commitment to the club, or other deserving factor.
It was agreed in principle that the Kirkstall Abbey 10k would go ahead in 2007 with a provisional date of Sunday 23rd September.

Once again, thanks to all those who attended the AGM and many thanks to outgoing officers and committee members for all your hard work in the past.

SUBSCRIPTIONS
In line with the AGM, subscriptions are now due. £14 for men and £12 for ladies. Please can you pass your renewals to Tony Downham, Peter Hey, Richard Thomas or Carol Moran.

SPORT DIRECT CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE
The season is now over with the 5th and final race taking place at Eccleshill. Well done to all those who turned out, but unfortunately as predicted we weren’t able to avoid relegation with both teams finishing 5th out of 6th on the day.

The Men’s and Ladies teams each finished 5th out of 6th in the overall tables so will begin next season’s campaign in the First Division.

One bit of excellent news though, in that Peter Branney also won the Eccleshill race, so with his 4 wins in 4 races, that guarantees him the overall SDXC Men’s title which is a fantastic achievement.

Full details of results are on the Abbey Runners website www.abbeyrunners.co.uk

SPORT DIRECT CROSS COUNTRY PRESENTATION NIGHT
The XC presentation night is to be held at the Firehouse on East Parade in Leeds on Friday 13th April at 7-30pm. Tickets are £2.50 each and this includes a buffet. Please see Peter Hey for more details.

KIRKSTALL HARRIERS XC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Peter Branney and Collette Spencer for being the highest scoring individual point scorers throughout the season.

LONDON MARATHON
Good luck to our 3 intrepid marathoners in London on the 22nd, Sheila King, Jill Baron and Collette Spencer.

You’ve all done superb in training and put the miles in so we’re sure you’ll do the vest and yourselves proud on the day.

KIRKSTALL ABBEY 10K
As agreed at the AGM the majority of members voted to hold the race this year. A potential date was discussed as Sunday 23-Sep-07, but this is subject to agreement with Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Police.

A meeting to which all members are invited will take place either on Wednesday 25th April or Monday 30th Apr to discuss all matters relating to the holding of the race. Listen out for announcements for the exact date nearer the time.

SPORTSMAN & WOMAN
Nominations have closed for this year’s Sportsman and Sportswoman for 2006. The votes are being scrutinised and the club’s committee will meet to decide the winners and they will be announced next month.

Thanks to those who took the time to vote.

JANE TOMLINSON’S RUN FOR ALL LEEDS 10k – 24th JUNE 2007
