TIME TRIAL WED 27TH FEB
The time trial for Feb attracted 22 runners, plus 4 helpers with Gary doing a steady return to form recci around the route. The day was going down as one of the hottest February days ever recorded but the evening was ideal running conditions for the time of year – cool and dry. There was one new member – Ian Taylor who had just joined the club and down for his first run so I felt obliged to say this was not the usual nightly training run. Another new face to this years winter runs was Paul Chapman.
The first over the line was Larissa  Brown, a relatively new member who is either slowly showing us her pace or has sussed out the way the handicapping works and recorded her pb on her second run, with a run time of 24.55. 2nd over the line was one of our “old” faces Peter Britton who is gradually getting back to normal speed after a long injury lay off who also recorded a pb for the year with 26.16. Third over the line with a 4 year course pb of 26.21 was Vicki Hipkiss. Could this be down to marathon training. There were then 2 large groups of runners bringing in most of the other runners. Sadly bringing up the rear was our new member Ian Taylor – maybe he was just being polite on his first night. The overall time between the 22 runners was 4 minutes and 12 seconds. Taking out the first two home, and the last runner, the time difference was only 2 minutes 33 seconds which could have made a big difference to the best 4 scores over the series for some individuals. Also recording course pb’s over the last 4 years were, Leanne Sykes Hooban with 27.39, Asta Bevainty, 25.17, Paul Chapman, 23.39, and Simon Boardman 21.26. A pb for the year went to Catherine Barrett, 24.56 and Geidrius Geisleris, 21.13. The fastest man on the night, missing out on his pb from last month by 9 seconds, which was a course record for the club, was Jonathan Young with 17.14. The fastest lady on the night was Therese Sheehan with 24.38, but only 11 seconds in front of Jane Crossley and another 6 and 7 seconds respectively in front of Larissa and Catherine.
Many thanks to Jemma, Lucy and Neil for making sure all runners got off in the right order and time, went the right way round and recorded the times and names in the correct sequence over the line (hopefully – If you spot any errors, please let me know) The last time trial for this winter is scheduled for Monday 25th March, when it has been suggested the runners can choose whichever way around the course they prefer.

We have 8 runners who have done at least 4 races so far, so the lowest best 4 scores to date are Catherine Barrett – 29. Equal 2nd Vicki Hipkiss and Jonathan Young – 33, 4th is Alan O’Brien 38, Adam Moger 41, 6th Geids 47, 7th Patrick Nesden 49 and 8th is Carol Moran with 51. There are at least another 9 runners who have done 3 races to date so much could change on the last one, depending on who turns up, how many runners we have, and how they all finish.

thanks all

Peter
