Final Winter 5k Time Trial

Only 12 runners took part on the night. 2 members, Ben Coldwell and Lee Hardy jogged around the route to unwind from their Hull 20 miler the day before – recording 2.05.10 and 2.16.59 respectively. Patrick was also unwinding from his Canal marathon on the Saturday, whilst we know 4 other runners had done the 15 mile or more Heptonstall fell race, also the day before. Marathon training seems to peaking (along with the 3 peaks) for the end of April. I also gave Carol Moran the wrong instructions for the night so she was looking for us elsewhere!!!
With it being the last race of the series, runners were able to pick their quickest or easiest way around the route. We think 5 finishers went the normal way up Queenswood Drive, whilst the other 6 decided to go via Spen Road first. With only 2 minutes and 25 seconds separating the first and last finisher, it is difficult to decide if there is an easy option.
Only one new (old) face was added to the list of time trial runners, Martin Crosby. First over the line with a pb for the year was Jacquie Elmer recording 26.08, 2nd was Sean Scanlon, another pb for this year with 23.41, and 3rd was Karen Boardman with 27.20. Sadly bringing up the rear (due to a good/bad handicap, depending on who you are) was Catherine Barrett with 26.04. Alan O’Brien did his 2nd dnf with taking a tumble avoiding a collision with an impatient motor car. Fastest runner on the night was Adam Moger just beating Paul Miller 19.57 with Paul recording his pb for the year. Another pb was achieved by Simon Boardman who beat all his pb’s going back over 3 years with 20.54. The fastest lady was Theresa Sheehan with 23.30. Only 2 minutes 25 seconds separated the 1st and last finisher.
Many thanks again to Jemma for getting everyone away on time and recording the results as without her help it would be virtually impossible to do the runs.

I shall shortly compile a spread sheet of all runners and times for this year and see who recorded the best overall scores.
