On Thursday evening we had 16 Harriers storm round the Horsforth Harriers: Apperly Bridge Canter (ABC). On  an undulating course that is net downhill but you seem to go up more than you go down, we had some great performances and welcoming some faces back into the fray. A big shout out to Jonathan Young who after running Edinburgh Marathon at the weekend, came 2nd overall and 1st in his age category in a quality local field. Although, based on his handicap time he should’ve won? Awesome achievement regardless!

We also had the Vets race hosted by Kirkstall, a warm thanks to the volunteers who lined Kirkstall Road and Bramley Fall Woods. It was by all accounts a successful race. Thanks to Jemma and Peter for their excellent organising skills! All volunteers have been added to the Club Championship, remember volunteer twice and you get 10 points, 5 times you get 30! Fancy organising a parkrun takeover or an internal event? Feel free to get in touch with the committee at training or at social events!

Back to Club Championships, the above results have been put against the RunBritain handicaps and points have been dished out. The top 3 are as follows:

Position Name H’cap Time Diff Time Points
1 James Nundy 00:55:07 7.85% 00:50:47 50
2 Sheila King 00:57:15 4.40% 00:54:44 49
3 Tony Shaw 01:01:04 3.76% 00:58:46 48

The full race results for the season up to now can be found here.

The results mean that James Nundy has increased his lead in the Club Championship, he’s the first to reach 6 races and we’re not even half way through the year! Can he improve on his tally? Is there a marathon he fancies? All to be decided! Plenty of wriggle room for the rest of you. There are plenty of Harriers stacked behind the top 3 on 3 or 4 races.

The current top 3 are:

Pos Name Points Total Races
1 James NUNDY 317  6
2 Lee HARDY 235  5
3 Alan O’BRIEN 229  5
