NOVEMBER TIME TRIAL<\/div>\n

On a wet and cold evening we only had 14 runners, 10 down from the previous month. Hopefully they were all celebrating Matt Sykes-Hooban\u2019s 40th birthday (a much warmer and drier proposition) \u2013 or saving themselves for the first Peco cross-country fast approaching this Sunday. At least the rain stopped whilst the run was on \u2013 and then started heavily again just after it finished.<\/div>\n
We had 3 new faces to the event, Andy Pullan and Rachel Symons who are relatively new to the club, and Therese Sheehan who had managed to avoid the runs so far, for whatever reason. There were also 2 runners giving the run a go again after a long lay off due to injuries \u2013 Lucy Churm and Catherine Barrett. From their times obtained it looks like they are both well on the way to a full recovery and any sympathies for their troubles will soon disappear.<\/div>\n
First over the line was Lucy with a run time of 24.44 \u2013 only 21 seconds slower than her best ever recorded over the last 3 years. Just over half a minute behind her in second place was Catherine with a run time of 25.56. Third over the line was new girl Rachel with a run time of 25.53. In fourth just to make it a clean sweep for the ladies was Therese who had the fastest ladies run time of 24.07. Jonathan who started at the back \u2013 again, managed to finish 6th with a pb, knocking 29 seconds of his fastest run on this course with a time of 17.46, which was only 6 seconds slower than the fastest ever recorded over the last 3 years. Bringing up the rear on the night was Alan who had the misfortune to encounter a dog that was not friendly at all and stopped him in his tracks. Fortunately there were no injuries \u2013 to him or the dog.<\/div>\n
Due to the new faces, returns from injury \u2013 and maybe an abundance of wet leaves on the course there was nearly 5 and half minutes between the first and last runner \u2013 or maybe just bad handicapping \u2013 as usual.<\/div>\n
Many thanks to Lee Hardy for ensuring all runners started in the right order and recording the correct times \u2013 unless you have spotted any deliberate errors \u2013 in which case please let me know. Lee was resting for a change having won the Pendle Park run on the previous Saturday, then did the 17 mile\u2019ish Tour of Pendle later the same day, which has quite a few hilly climbs (1,473 metres) \u2013 and some dodgy descents \u2013 with a finish time of over 3 hours still putting him (and our other runners on the day) well up the leaderboard.<\/div>\n
