For those not familiar with this event, it is a very challenging 10.3 mile trail race with a famous 1 mile climb up the cobbled Trooper Lane with it’s 10% gradient to the top of Beacon Hill overlooking Halifax. The hills keep coming relentlessly after that until the last drop down to the river crossing and 100m dash to the finish. There cannot be many 10m races tougher than this one. Having said all that, the race actually sold out 500 places in advance for the first time ever. Nine of those places were bought by our members who took the challenge and ignored the warnings (or past memories).

The day was very pleasent, the bluebells were out in great numbers and the hosts made it a great occasion. Thanks to Stainland Lions for the excellent organisation and most enthuiastic marshalls. The course was, however, just as tough as ever but still a great day out.
