March 5k time trial

We had 17 runners and 4 helpers out for the first night of British Summer time training – and it was dry and reasonably warm too – which was a bit of good news for those who had to wait for 20 minutes or more before starting. Thanks to Lucy, Ben and Adam for helping to assist with the start and finish. Adam was having a rest after doing the Blubberhouses Moor 25 the day before – and it had been a busy weekend with the Cross Flatts park run and the Peco Relays on the Saturday and Sunday respectively. As this was the last run of the series, runners could choose which was their fastest way around the course.

There were 3 new faces to the time trial, Michael, Lucie and Rhiannon – hopefully they enjoyed the “sprint”. First over the line was Carol, who had set off with Patrick and Michael – so gracefully declined to accept the winners prize. Also declining their prize was Kevin who set off a minute or two earlier then scheduled but still managed a pb for that course of 20.11. “Officially” first over the line was Michael on his first run with a run time of 35.01– so he will be starting further back next time! 2nd was Lana with a run time of 25.34, her fastest time of the year. 3rd was Shevonne, also setting a pb for the year with a run time of 28.17. Just missing out on the podium was Lucie on her first run with a time of 26.10, just pipping Cameron who got a pb on his 2nd attempt with a time of 23.33. Bringing up the rear on the night with a slow time for her, was Jo – who was probably affected by her TV appearance on Look North a few days earlier!

Starting at the very back, after a wait of over 27 minutes was Simon who clipped 2 seconds off his 1st attempt and finished 10th. He was the fastest runner with a time of 18.15. The fastest lady on the night was Therese with a run time of 23.07, just 1 second off her pb for the course. The other runners getting a pb for this year was Chris.

Overall there were 15 minutes between 1st and last home but between 3rd & 15th it was only 3 ½ minutes.

If anyone spots any errors please let us know – and also if you have any strong thoughts or ideas – good or bad on the Time Trial itself.

Cheers

Peter
