Many thanks to all those who turned up on the night with temperatures in the low to mid 20’s. We had 17 racing with 4 taking a pleasant jog around the course, Vicki, Catherine and Lucy, with Kevin mingling with the racers. Carol decided it was too hot after she started and took the short cut (that hopefully no one else knows???) Dave Wood also took a bit longer then normal by coming back the scenic route via the canal and railway station. We also had 6 helpers/spectators – Jemma, Paul, Alan, Lee (who is still injured after 2 years and quite a bit of surgery) Alyson and Chris (another long term injured runner)
It was the first handicap run for at least 17 months – at least it’s a good excuse for not having the correct start times – assuming we have had one in the past. Nevertheless everyone took part in good spirits under the circumstances. At least I remembered all your names – except one and we had two new faces – to me at least – Julia Jones, and Richard Solomon.
First over the line was Sean with a run time of 48.43, 2nd was Leanne, with a time of 56.39 and 3rd was Anne in 49.12. Bravely starting at the back as usual 27 and a half minutes after the first, was Ben who ran the fastest time of 38.10, and the fastest lady was Anne. Paul Chapman was well down the field but I think someone said that at one stage he was carrying his shoes !!!
Hopefully all enjoyed the occasion – it all seemed to go down well – apart from me going home with Adams car keys. We are hoping to stage the Members Meander – a similar time trial but over a different route on Wednesday 11th August – before it gets too dark with parts of it being off road.
See you all again soon
