JANUARY 5K TIME TRIAL
We had a good turnout despite it being a cold but dry night – 4 degrees, but it had been a clear sunny day at 8 degrees. There were 15 runners, plus 1 jogger – Kevin, and Ben did his own run but socialised at the start and end. We had one new face Daoud, pronounced Dowd (in my Yorkshire way anyway). Not yet a member he did mention paying his subs soon. As Kevin was only jogging around, they both set off at the same time, so not too sure if Kevin had to run faster then he wanted to, to ensure Daoud went the right way.
With Jemma not being able to make it, Adam kindly offered to help set them all off – until it was time for him to warm up and change into his go faster shoes. First over the line was Daoud with a run time of 23.01, so looks like he will be moving down the list next time, and escorting him over the finish line was Kevin with a run time of 23.11, marginally quicker then his last time jog. 2nd to count was Lana with a run time of 22.25, easily beating her previous run. Coming home in 3rd was Paul Chapman who is slowly getting back to his norm, with a run time of 27.24. Just missing out on a podium finish was Jo – another runner slowly getting back into form, just in front of Ian and Leanne. Sadly bringing up the rear this evening was Matt – lets hope this was just a one off – or a bid to give him a more lenient handicap.
As well as Lana, Jo and Paul picking up pb’s for this season there were also Patrick with 40.01, Carol 28.08 and Ian 25.45.
Fastest time was Adam with 20.37 and fastest lady was Kat with 25.05, who is another returning from an injury
There was not a lot of hanging about at the end with only 4 minutes 48 separating first and last, but hopefully next time it will be even closer, especially considering the wide range of runners up for the challenge. Thanks to Kevin for helping recording the finishing times with it being so close, but if anyone spots any obvious errors please let me know for next time. Peter.
