NOVEMBERS 5K TIME TRIAL

On a cold (about 5 degrees) and a very wet night it was encouraging to see 17 brave souls out for a short run. Due to Patrick not “racing”, he had done a 19 mile run the day before in preparation for his 50th marathon, we tried to set off everyone as soon as possible to avoid standing around too long. Unfortunately the mental arithmetic instead of following the crib sheet was very difficult (for me) so some of you may not have started at the exact time intended. If you think your times are wrong and want them changing – please let us know.

We had one new face who had come down for his very first run with the club – Hasnain Habib, and 4 new names to the time trials, Sioned Lloyd-Owen, Rosina Costella, Susie Robertson and Rowland Kaye – so their times were guesstimated.

Coming home in first place was Ronan with a run time of 20.22. After finishing second last month with a generous first time handicap – his intention this month was to really have a go at a good time – so was one of the last ones to set off.

Crossing the line in second place was Kevin with a run time of 24.21, slower then his pb of 20.59 but he acts more of a pacer then a sprinter. In third place was Rowland with a run time of 22.31, not too far off his guestimate, just pipping Daoud by 10 seconds who again came from the back of the starters and also did a pb of 21.49. Also getting a pb was Rachel with a run time of 23.58. Last man to start, Adam finished 9th – just over 2 minutes behind the winner. Sadly bringing up the rear on the night was Shevonne with a much slower than anticipated time. Fastest runner was Ronan with Rachel being the fastest lady. Altogether there was over 6 minutes between first and last finisher but taking out the 1st and last times this came down to only 3 minutes despite 10 minutes in the starting times.

Many thanks to Chris and Ben for helping at the start and finish – hopefully the next run will be under better conditions but thanks to you all for turning out.

Peter
